your router is much more fancy than mine. After I type in my IP address into the browser to load it, then type the password and log into it, it brings me to a single page with all of the data available on it and there is no adjustability whatsoever.

This is the procedure to allow programs and open ports in Vista

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows-vista/Allow-a-program-to-communicate-through-Windows-Firewall

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows-vista/Open-a-port-in-Windows-Firewall

The game may work if you allow, but it often freezes up if you haven't opened up all the ports.

max I have scripts to open the ports using the cmd for xp:

FOR /L %I IN (2300,1,2400) DO netsh firewall add portopening TCP %I DDF8%I

FOR /L %I IN (2300,1,2400) DO netsh firewall add portopening UDP %I DDF8%I

As far as Vista or Windows 7, before you open it and it is listed in the start menu, right click on where it says Command Prompt and click on Run As Administrator. If you don't do this it will NOT open the ports. If done correctly in the title bar of the command prompt it will say: Administrator: Command Prompt.

Then enter these scripts (these also open 6073 so you dont have to do it manually )

FOR /L %I IN (2300,1,2400) DO netsh advfirewall firewall add rule
name="DDF8%I" dir=in protocol=tcp localport=%I action=allow

FOR /L %I IN (2300,1,2400) DO netsh advfirewall firewall add rule
name="DDF8%I" dir=out protocol=tcp localport=%I action=allow

FOR /L %I IN (2300,1,2400) DO netsh advfirewall firewall add rule
name="DDF8%I" dir=in protocol=udp localport=%I action=allow

FOR /L %I IN (2300,1,2400) DO netsh advfirewall firewall add rule
name="DDF8%I" dir=out protocol=udp localport=%I action=allow

netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="DDF86073" dir=in protocol=tcp
localport=6073 action=allow

netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="DDF86073" dir=in protocol=udp
localport=6073 action=allow

But as stated above you still must allow the game through Windows Firewall. I would also set up the DMZ before attempting Port Forwarding.

I don't know much about your combo router, but you have to create a static ip I believe.

That said, have two sets of 2300-2400 will not hurt, I have the same thing for mine.

Direct X 7 uses a different main Port. I can't recall the port off hand. But u have to open it too for TCP and UDP.

DIrect X 8 and 9 use Port 6073 tcp and udp.

Load in your game, select Multiplayer host TCP -ip

See what IP address gets fed to your computer.

If its a 192.168.1.xxx number or a 192.168.0.xxx number then that is the NUMBER u need to DMZ within your router. It may be called DMZ or it may be called Bridge.

Computer Geek Notes.

DMZ = Demilitarized Zone

By setting up a DMZ, the game is allowed to work.

Other terms used for DMZ are

Bridge
Static Nat.
