Did you add any new cars or is this just a fresh install of the game?

The game works on Vista. However, when you install it, you can not use the 3D version. I beleive that is what it is called. I know it is the second option. When playing the game on Vista, under this configuration, there will not be any smoke coming from any cars, when you make a solid hit.

I set the DemoDerby exe to run in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode. Then I ran the DDCfg and changed the selection to "Software" .

Heres a step by step procedure that might help. I would add pictures but I don't have vista, so I can't make them

Ok, I don't have vista but I will guess.
Also, I don't know if you have the OUTERBOUND games CD like me.

I will do it step by step.

1) START
2) My Computer
3) Local disk C or Drive C: Click on show files if you have to.
4) Program Files or Games ? I don't know where you put it so I will guess Program files because that is the default. (Click on SHOW FILES if you have to)
5) Scroll down to OUTERBOUND GAMES, or AUXILLERYPOWER OR DD&F8 depending on the CD. Mine would be Outerbound Games
6) Doubleclick on the outbound games folder
7) Doubleclick on the DD&F8 Folder
8) Doubleclick on the GAME folder
9) Doubleclick on DEMODERBY
10) Doubleclick on ddcfg
11) Set to software
12) OK
13) Right click on DemoDerby
14) click on Properties
15) XP Compatibility (look around for it)
16) Set screen resolution 640*400 or 800* 600 if available.

Done, go play DD&F8 on vista

If you have problems installing version 1.0. Such as it won't let you install the game.

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Answers Forum. What are the names of the software you are trying to install? Is this computer on a Domain Network? Assuming that this computer is not on a Domain Network and subject to network administrators policies that prevent installation of software you can try the following suggestions.

Turn off UAC (User Account Control). Click on Start, Control Panel, click User Accounts, click User Accounts again, click “Turn turn User Account Control On or Off”. Take the check mark out of the box next to “Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer. Reboot the computer and try and install the program.

If you still can’t get the program to install try right clicking on the program’s install executable and click “Run as Administrator” to launch the install.

If you still aren’t successful, read this Microsoft Knowledge Base article about common Windows Installer Problems and try the steps listed in it:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555175

If you still are unsuccessful, include any error messages and a detailed description of what happens when the install fails in your reply.

Thanks,

Are the cars stock original cars?

Can you see through them when they spin?

Then it has to be a problem when you try to set the

DDCFG to Software. (See picture above)

Maybe it didn't take, perhaps it appeared to do so, but is only allowed to change the settings if you are in administration mode.
